For some reason, when Dave mentioned the goggles that would allow you to see information about people you meet, all I could think of was John Carpenter's "They Live" and the sunglass that let Rowdy Roddy Pipper see the messages about the aliens.

Also, re: snail mail and geotagging - the other way mail can be geotagged is the postmark on the stamp. Sure, you could mail it from somewhere other than where you really are, but it still means that you were in that area when the item was mailed. Also, the geotagging on a picture doesn't necessarily mean "I am here", just that "I was here at some point, but not necessarily now."
